Richard Berman is a seasoned entrepreneur, innovative real estate developer, and respected business leader in Western Canada. As the co‑founder of Berkland Capital Holdings, he plays a central role in defining the organization’s strategic direction and strengthening its position within the real estate and private investment sectors. Berkland Capital Holdings reflects Mr. Berman’s commitment to disciplined growth, market intelligence, and long‑term value creation.

 

Prior to establishing Berkland Capital Holdings, Mr. Berman spent more than three decades shaping urban environments across North America through Boulevard Investments, delivering projects that have contributed significantly to the development of multiple metropolitan markets. As founder and president of The Berman Group, Mr. Berman has become recognized as a leading figure in the real estate industry. His experience spans single‑family and multi‑family residential development, commercial assets, and large‑scale land development.

 

Mr. Berman’s capabilities encompass the full development lifecycle, including site acquisition, planning, construction oversight, and project delivery. He has built and led high‑performing, cross‑functional teams and has overseen a portfolio noted for its scale, innovation, and market impact. His work has created substantial opportunities in residential and commercial sectors across Vancouver, Calgary, and Phoenix.

Ken Zealand, CPA, CA

Chief Financial Officer

Ken Zealand brings extensive experience in accounting, financial management, insolvency, restructuring, and corporate governance to Berkland Capital Holdings. Based in Winnipeg, Manitoba, Ken was a senior manager and licensed insolvency trustee with MNP LLP, where he advised organizations through complex financial and operational matters.

 

A Chartered Professional Accountant and Chartered Accountant, Ken brings a disciplined and analytical approach to financial oversight, risk management, reporting, and strategic decision-making. His experience working with businesses and organizations facing complex financial circumstances provides him with a unique perspective on both opportunity and risk.

 

Ken is also deeply committed to community leadership. He serves on the Board of Directors of the Manitoba Historical Society, including as Treasurer, and has been actively involved with CJNU Nostalgia Radio and its community fundraising initiatives. He is also a Board Member for Prairie Public Broadcasting, including Past Chair and Past Treasurer. 

 

As Chief Financial Officer of Berkland Capital Holdings, Ken is responsible for overseeing the company’s financial strategy, reporting, controls, and governance while supporting the company’s long-term growth and investment objectives.

 

His combination of financial expertise, sound judgment, and commitment to responsible stewardship makes Ken a valuable member of the Berkland Capital Holdings leadership team.
